Ah, what auspicious thing have I done, you who are the home of all that is auspicious, that I should have the sight of you, who are hard to see even for men of yoga? What is harder to come by than this, in this world or the next, for a man with whom the brahmins are pleased, and Siva, and Visnu with all who follow him? The world does not make you out, though you go walking through the worlds, any more than all of them make out the self that sees everything, and those who are the causes of this. Poor though they be, those good householders are fortunate whose houses hold, for the worthiest guest, water and grass and ground, the master of the house and those under him.

But those houses that are without the water from the feet of him whose feet are a ford, though nothing of their riches is lacking, are only trees where snakes lodge. You are welcome, best of the twice-born. Wanting release, steady, you keep your vows with trust; you are children still, and yet you have grown great.
