So the king, shown the whole way to the self by the Kumara, son of Brahma, whose wisdom is of the self, praised him rightly and spoke to him. Hari, who pities the afflicted, did me a kindness before this; and you have come, brahmin, revered one, to bring that kindness home. And it has been carried out in full by you who are revered and tender. Everything I have is the leavings of the good. What am I to give, and myself with it? My life, my wife, my sons, brahmin, my houses and all their furnishing, my kingdom, my army, the earth, the treasury: all of it is made over to you. Command of the army, and kingship, and the wielding of the rod, and rule over all the worlds belong by right to the man who knows the Veda and the books.

The brahmin eats what is his own, wears what is his own, gives away what is his own; and it is by his kindness that the kshatriya and the rest eat their food at all. May those whose pity is not small be pleased always with their own work: those who follow the sacred word and have set out for us, in the teaching of the self, this whole way of the Bhagavan. Who could pay that back, except with a cupful of water?
