And a hundred and ten daughters, lord of creatures, who carried the good name of their father and mother, well made in conduct and generosity, Puranjana's daughters. That lord of the Pancalas gave wives to his sons, who would swell their father's line, and gave his daughters to husbands of their own kind. And his sons had sons, a hundred to each one, and by them the line of Puranjana grew great among the Pancalas. To these takers of his wealth, who lived off his house and his treasury, he was tied by a sense of mine grown deep in him, and tied so to the things the senses want. Consecrated, he worshipped with cruel rites in which animals are killed, worshipped the gods, the fathers and the lords of beings, wanting one thing after another, as you do.

While he went on heedless like this, taken up with such things, his mind stuck fast to his household, that time arrived which men who love women do not like.
