Cursed in this way by his own teacher, the great man did not move from the truth. He worshipped the dwarf and gave the earth to him, pouring the water first. Then Vindhyavali his wife came, wearing a net of pearls, and brought a golden vessel filled with water for the washing of the feet. The sacrificer himself gladly washed that beautiful pair of feet and carried that water upon his head, the water that makes the whole world clean. Then in the sky the companies of the gods, and the gandharvas, vidyadharas, siddhas and caranas, all of them praising the straightness of what the lord of the demons had done, rained down showers of flowers in their gladness.

Kettledrums sounded again and again by the thousand, and the gandharvas and kimpurusas and kinnaras sang: a very hard thing has been done by this man of spirit, who knew whom he was giving to and gave the three worlds to his enemy.
