24There was a wheel on his right hand and the cup of a lotus on his feet. He worshipped with the great anointing, and, anointed, became the mighty overlord. 25With fifty-five horses fit for the offering along the Ganga, and with Mamata's son before him as priest, along the Yamuna the mighty one 26bound seventy-eight horses fit for the offering, and gave away his wealth. The fire of Bharata, Dusmanta's son, was piled at Saciguna, and at it a thousand brahmins shared out cows by the badva. 27Having bound a hundred and thirty-three horses, and set the kings wondering, Dusyanta's son went past what maya can do, and came to the teacher of the gods.
28At the rite at Masnara he gave away fourteen hundred thousand black deer with white teeth, all of them decked about with gold. 29The great work of Bharata no kings before him and none after him have reached or will ever reach, any more than they will reach heaven with their arms.
