Then the lady Rohini called Krsna, the breaker of the arjunas, who had gone to the river bank, and Rama too, both of them playing hard with the other boys. When the two little sons, called, did not come, being caught up in their play, Rohini sent Yasoda, who was tender towards her son. Her son was playing with the boys long past the hour, along with his elder brother. Yasoda called and called to Krsna, her breasts wet with love for him. Krsna, Krsna, lotus-eyed, my child, come and drink at the breast. Enough of your games. You are faint with hunger and tired with playing, little son. Rama, come quickly, my child, and your younger brother with you, joy of the family. You ate only at daybreak, so now you should eat again.

The lord of Vraja is waiting for you, Dasarha, meaning to eat with you. Come and do the two of us this kindness. Boys, go home to your own houses. Your body is grey with dust, my son. Come and have your bath. Today is the star you were born under: be clean, and give cows to the brahmins. Look, look at your friends, washed by their mothers and finely dressed. You too, bathed and fed and finely dressed, go and play. So Yasoda, king, took him who is the crown of all things to be her son, her mind tied fast by love. She took the Unfallen by the hand, and Rama with him, and brought them to her own yard and made them shine.
