21The elders among the cowherds, having lived through great portents in Brhadvana, Nanda and the rest, came together and took counsel about what Vraja should do. 22There a cowherd named Upananda spoke, above the others in knowledge and in years, who knew what place and time and occasion truly ask for, and who did what was good for Rama and Krsna. 23We who want Gokula's good should get up and go from here. Great portents are coming upon this place, and they mean the destruction of the children. 24This child got free somehow from the raksasa woman who kills children; and it was surely by Hari's kindness that the cart did not come down on top of him.
25He was carried off into the sky and into danger by the Daitya in the whirlwind, and fell there on a rock, and was saved by the lords of the gods. 26That this child did not die when he came in between the two trees, nor any of the others either, that too is the Unfallen's guarding. 27Before the ruin these portents point to comes upon Vraja from this place, let us take the children and go elsewhere, and all our people with us.
