18Then Krsna, the Lord who makes the world, to bring delight to their mothers and to that one as well, made himself into both the calves and their keepers. 19Down to the small bodies of the calf-herds and the calves, down to the hands and feet, down to the sticks and horns and flutes and leaf-dishes and bags, down to the ornaments and clothes, down to the ways and qualities and names and shapes and ages, down to the games: all of it was Visnu through and through. As the sayings have it, the unborn shone out as the very form of everything. 20Being all of them himself, he turned his own calves back with his own calf-herds, playing his own games; and the self of all went into Vraja.
21Taking each calf apart and settling it in its own pen, he became each of them, king, and went into each of the houses. 22Their mothers got up at once at the sound of the flute, lifted them and held them close in their arms, and gave the highest Brahman, taking him for their sons, the nectar of their milk that ran with love. 23Then, king, he was rubbed with oil and bathed and anointed, decked out, given his guarding thread and forehead mark and his food and the rest, and petted; and Madhava, by his own doings, gave them great joy, and so came watch by watch to the evening.
