Akrura, who shared her pain and pleasure, and Vidura of great fame comforted Kunti by telling her how her sons had come to be born. As he was going, he came to the king, who was unfair and doting on his sons, and in the middle of his friends he said what his kinsmen had said out of friendship. Sir, son of Vicitravirya, you who make the fame of the Kurus grow: with your brother Pandu dead, you have now taken the seat. Guarding the earth by dharma, giving the people pleasure by your conduct, and keeping even-handed among your own, you will get what is good, and fame besides. Acting otherwise, you will be blamed in the world and go into the dark. So keep even-handed between the Pandavas and your own sons.
