Men and women, finely adorned with scent and garlands, ornaments and clothes, smeared each other and sprinkled each other and played with liquids of many kinds. The courtesans, smeared by the men with oil and curds and scented water, with turmeric and thick saffron, smeared them back, and they played. The queens went out to see this, guarded by men, as the wives of the gods go through heaven in their fine flying cars; and sprinkled by their husbands' cousins and friends, their faces opening in a shy laugh, they shone. They in turn soaked their husbands' brothers and their friends from squirts, their clothes clinging, their limbs and breasts and thighs and waists showing, their braids loosened in their eagerness and the garlands slipping from them; and with that lovely play they set a stirring going in men whose minds are dirty.

That emperor, mounted on a chariot of good horses with a golden chain on it, shone among his wives as the king of rites shines among its acts. Those priests carried out the joint offering of the wives and the closing rites, had him rinse his mouth, and bathed him in the Ganga together with Draupadi.
