Salva, whose force was all but destroyed, saw Krsna and hurled at Krsna's driver a spear that roared terribly across the field. It came rushing through the sky like a great meteor, lighting up the quarters, and the son of Sura cut it into a hundred pieces with his arrows. He pierced Salva with sixteen arrows, and Saubha, wheeling in the sky, he pierced with sheaves of arrows as the sun pierces the sky with its rays. But Salva struck the left arm of the son of Sura, him who bears the Sarnga bow, the arm that held the Sarnga. The Sarnga fell from his hand, and that was a wonder. A great cry of dismay went up from the beings watching there. The king of Saubha roared aloud and said this to Janardana:

Fool, you carried off the bride of our friend, your own brother, while we stood looking on, and in the middle of the assembly you killed that friend of ours when he was off his guard. Today, with sharp arrows, I will send you where there is no coming back, you who think yourself unbeaten, if you will only stand in front of me.
