57Dhrtarastra, his younger brother, the sons of Prtha, Bhisma, Drona, Prtha, the twins, Narada, the revered Vyasa, well-wishers, kinsmen and relations: 58embracing their kin the Yadus, their hearts wet with friendship, they went to their own countries with the pain of parting, and so did the other people. 59But Nanda, honoured with a great worship by Krsna and Rama and Ugrasena and the rest, stayed on there with the cowherds, tender as he is to his own. 60Vasudeva, having easily crossed the great sea of what he had longed for, surrounded by his well-wishers and glad at heart, spoke to Nanda, touching his hand. 61Brother, the cord the Lord has made for men, the one that goes by the name of affection: that, I think, is hard to give up even for the brave, even for yogins.
62This friendship the best of men have shown to us, who gave them no thanks, has no like; offered in friendship, even when it bears no fruit, it does not ever turn back. 63Brother, before this we did you no good, because we were not able; and now, our eyes blinded by the pride of wealth, we do not see you standing before us. 64Let no man who wants what is good have the fortune of a kingdom, giver of honour: by it a man's sight is blinded, and he does not see his own people or his kin. 65So, with his heart loosened in friendship, Anakadundubhi wept, remembering the friendship he had shown him, tears standing in his eyes.
