He is the closest friend, the dearest, the master, and the very self of those who wear bodies. Buying him at the price of nothing but myself, I will take my pleasure with him, as Fortune does. How much of what is dear did they ever deal out to a wife, the pleasures and the men who give pleasure? They have a beginning and an end; and so do the gods, swept off by time. Surely the Bhagavan, Visnu, is pleased with me for something I have done, since this turning away from a poor hope has been born in me and brings me happiness. Sufferings like these, the causes of turning away, would not come to an unlucky woman; it is by turning away that a man tears out his attachment and comes to peace.

Taking on my head the good he has done me, I let go the village ties and the poor hopes, and go for refuge to him, the Lord above all. Content, trusting, living on whatever comes to hand, I shall take my delight with him alone, with the self, my lover.
