24He should walk the earth, which has its holy places and rivers and hills and forest hermitages, going into towns and villages and cattle stations and caravans for the sake of alms. 25He should beg again and again at the settlements of the forest dwellers. Then his clarity is made pure by the food of gleaned grain, his bewilderment quickly ends, and he comes through. 26He should not see this as a real thing: what is seen is passing away. With his thought unattached, he should give over wanting to do anything here or hereafter. 27This world, held together in the self out of mind and speech and breath: leaving it all behind by the reasoning that it is maya, settled in himself, he should not call it to mind again.
28Standing firm in knowledge, or turned away from things, or devoted to me and looking for nothing, he may give up the stages of life with their marks and go about outside what the rules reach. 29The wise one should play like a child, the skilled one go about like a dull man, the learned one talk like a madman, and the one who knows the Veda live in the manner of cattle.
