Go to a teacher, and the one who only carries the staff· Verses 36–41

Cleanness, the sipping of water, bathing: the one who knows should not do these because he is told to, nor the other rules either, but as I do, the Lord, in play. For him there is no naming of things as separate, that being destroyed by the sight of me. Until the body ends, some such naming may still be there at times; after that he comes to be with me. One who has grown sick of desires that end in pain, and who has himself in hand, but has not yet asked after my dharma, should go to a teacher, a sage. He should serve him, devoted, trusting, finding no fault, until he comes to know Brahman, honouring me alone as the teacher.

But one whose group of six is not held in, whose driver is a violent set of senses, who is without knowledge and without detachment, and who makes his living off the triple staff: he denies the gods, and himself, and me who stand within him, and he is a killer of dharma. His stain unripened, he falls away from this world and from that one.
