10In that egg, set down in the waters, I came to be. From my navel came the lotus called the All, and there the self-born one. 11He, joined to austerity, by passion and by my favour, self of all, made the worlds with their guardians, in three: the earth, the mid-air and the sky. 12The sky was the home of the gods, and the mid-air the place of the spirits; the earth-world was for men and the rest; and what is beyond the three is for the perfected. 13Below the earth the Lord made a home for the demons and the serpents. All the courses of works, which are of the three strands, lie within the three worlds. 14The courses of yoga, of austerity and of laying down, which are without stain, are Mahar, Jana, Tapas and Satya; and the course of the yoga of devotion is to me.
