1Then, when Uddhava, great among the Lord's own, had gone out to the forest, what did the Bhagavan, who brings beings into being, do in Dvaravati? 2When his own line had been struck by the brahmins' curse, how did that bull of the Yadavas give up the body that was dearest to all eyes? 3Where women's eyes, once fixed, could not draw themselves back; which, once it has entered the ear, does not leave it, for it clings to the very selves of the good; whose beauty makes speech take delight in itself, so what then of the pride of poets; and which, seen upon the chariot in the Conqueror's battle, they came to be like.
