Verse 20

¹⁵Daruka came to Dvaraka, fell at the feet of Vasudeva and Ugrasena and wet them with his tears, having lost Krsna. ¹⁶He told them the death of the Vrsnis in full, king. Hearing it, the people, their hearts shaken, fainted with grief. ¹⁷They went there in haste, undone at being cut off from Krsna, to where their kinsmen lay without breath, beating their faces. ¹⁸Devaki and Rohini, and Vasudeva too, not seeing their sons Krsna and Rama, were struck with grief and lost their senses. ¹⁹And they gave up their breaths there, sick with the parting from the Bhagavan. The women, dear one, embraced their husbands and climbed the pyre.

²⁰Rama's wives embraced his body and entered the fire; the wives of Vasudeva, his body; Hari's daughters-in-law, Pradyumna and the others; and Krsna's wives, Rukmini and the rest, whose selves were his, entered the fire.
