In plain words

Amutaṉār: Release, safe and good, wealth, dharma, and excellent, good love: these, the wise say, are the four ends of life. Rāmānuja, who has the gracious nature of Vāmana [who came to help unasked], declared on this earth that of the four, love is the one that is for Kaṇṇaṉ alone, and that dharma, wealth and release are for its sake.
