In plain words
The same clear awareness is known inwardly as “I” in animals, humans and deities. By its light the heart, senses, body and objects shine, though all are insentient in themselves. The Yogin continually contemplates that Sphūrti, that self-luminous awareness, like the sun’s disc hidden by what its own light reveals. With Manas, the mind, at rest, that Yogin is truly the Guru. This is my settled conviction.
Close to the Sanskrit
That which is clearly apprehended within as “I” by animals, humans, and deities; by whose light the heart, senses, body, and objects—insentient in themselves—shine; that Sphūrti—self-luminous awareness—like the sun’s disc covered by the objects it illumines, the Yogin constantly contemplates. He whose Manas—whose mind—is at rest is indeed the Guru—this is my conviction.
