तथा चैतत्सर्वं स्पष्टमाह भगवान् सनत्सुजातः ब्रह्माण्डपुराणे कावषेयगीताप्रसङ्गे—‘वेदान्पठध्वं विधिवद्व्रतानि कृत्वा विवाहं च मखैर्यजध्वम् ।उत्पाद्य पुत्रान्वयसो विरामे देहं त्यजध्वं नियतास्तपोभिः’ इति ।‘किमद्य नश्चाध्ययनेन कार्यं किमर्थवन्तश्च मखैर्यजामः ।प्राणं हि वाप्यनले जोहवीमः प्राणानले जोहवीमीति वाचम्’ इति कृतकृत्यत्वेन यज्ञाद्यनुष्ठानेन आत्मनः प्रयोजनाभावं दर्शयित्वा ‘स्वर्गात्तु वेश्यागृहसन्निवेशात्पुण्यक्षयान्ते पतनं स्यादवश्यम् ।मनुष्यलोके विजरा विदुःखम् ...’ इति यज्ञादिसाध्यस्य लोकस्यानित्यत्वादिदोषदुष्टत्वेन हेयत्वं दर्शयित्वा यजुर्वेदोपनिषदि ‘सत्यं परं परम्’ इत्यारभ्य सत्यादीनां माहात्म्यं दर्शयित्वा ‘न्यासः’ इत्यारभ्य ‘तानि वा एतान्यवराणि तपांसि न्यास एवात्यरेचयत्’ इत्यन्तेन नित्यसिद्धनिरतिशयानन्दब्रह्मप्राप्तिसाधनस्य तत्साधनत्वेन अपरादनित्यफलसाधनाद्यज्ञादेः सर्वस्मादुत्कृष्टत्वं सन्न्यासस्योक्तं तत्रैव श्रूयते—‘न कर्मणा न प्रजया धनेन त्यागेनैके अमृतत्वमानशुः ।परेण नाकं नि

In the Brahmanda Purana, within the Kavasheya Gita dialogue, the sage Sanatsujāta elaborates extensively on how ritual works, progeny, and wealth cannot grant liberation, and how supreme renunciation alone outshines all lesser austerities to lead one to the eternal truth.

And thus the venerable Sanatsujāta clearly stated in the Brahmanda Purana within the Kavasheya Gita context: 'Study the Vedas, performing vows, marry, and sacrifice with offerings; producing sons, at the end of life's span abandon the body, restrained by austerities' — thus, having shown that through the execution of sacrifices and the resulting state of fulfillment there is no further purpose for the self, and having pointed out that heavenly realms and the like attained through sacrifices are flawed by transience and thus fit to be abandoned, and having shown the greatness of truth in the Yajurveda Upanishad starting with 'Truth is supreme, supreme', and starting with 'Renunciation', through the statement 'Renunciation alone excelled all those lower austerities', establishing the absolute superiority of renunciation over all inferior ritual means to transient fruits, there precisely it is heard: 'Not by action, not by progeny, not by wealth, but by renunciation alone some attained immortality, higher than heaven...'
