In plain words

We know space exists before a pot is formed and after it breaks, yet we speak as if the space were born with the pot, died with it, travelled when it moved and shared its measure. Embodied beings make the same mistake about Ātma, the Self, assigning to it the body's coming, going and limits.

Close to the Sanskrit

Although one knows that space exists before and after a pot, it falsely seems to arise when the pot is made and to perish when the pot is destroyed. When the pot is carried elsewhere, space seems to travel with it or conform to its dimensions. Just so a false cognition of Ātma—the Self—appears everywhere among embodied beings.
