In plain words

In deep sleep every Jīva rests alike and rejoices because the glorious inner helper, benefactor within and without, gathers in the senses. Yet when Vṛtti, the mind's movement, stays turned outward merely to feed the body, touched by wrongdoing and ruled by skin, eye, ear, nose and tongue, it enters grief and delusion.

Close to the Sanskrit

All Jīvas rejoice and rest alike in deep sleep, while the glorious benefactor of all, within and without, draws the eye and other senses inward. But the outward Vṛtti—the movement of mind—that is touched by wrongdoing and serves to fill the belly falls under skin, eye, ear, nose and tongue, and goes to grief and delusion.
