In plain words

A person who dies without knowing Ātma, the Self, may know Śruti and perform its rites, yet the pleasure earned by that Karma soon runs out, and far greater pain follows on return. For the seeker who knows Ātma, the fulfillment called Siddhi is vast and enduring. Meditate, then, on Ātma alone: when it is found, one no longer needs to chase any happiness.

Close to the Sanskrit

One who dies without knowing Ātma—even if learned in Śruti and a performer of rites—exhausts this Karma after a small enjoyment and, on descending again, undergoes great suffering. For the seeker who knows Ātma there is the great and lasting enjoyment of Siddhi, fulfillment. Therefore Ātma is to be contemplated; when it is attained, every happiness belongs to one who seeks nothing.
