Verse 506

स्वच्छतया स्फटिकनिर्मल: कुन्द; कुं पृथ्वीं कश्यपायादादिति वा कुंदः ; 'सर्वपापविशुद्धयर्थं वाजिमेधेन चेष्टवान् ।तस्मिन्यज्ञे महादाने दक्षिणां भृगुनन्दनः ॥मारीचाय ददौ प्रीतः कश्यपाय वसुंधराम्' इति हरिवंशे ; कुं पृथ्वीं द्यति खण्डयतीति वा कुंदः ।कुशव्देन पृथ्वीश्वरा लक्ष्यन्ते ;

In plain words

Because of its flawless clarity, pure like crystal, it is Kunda; or because he gave the earth to Kashyapa. As the Harivamsha records: 'Wishing for complete purification, the son of Bhrigu performed the horse-sacrifice; and in that great ritual, well-pleased, he gave the earth as a sacrificial fee to Maricha's descendant Kashyapa.' Or Kunda is so called because it cleaves the earth. By the word 'ku', earthly rulers are signified.

Close to the Sanskrit

Due to purity, crystal-pure, kunda; gave the earth to kashyapa thus or kunda; 'For total purification he performed with the horse sacrifice. In that sacrifice during the great gift the son of bhrigu gave the earth to maricha's descendant kashyapa being pleased' thus in Harivamsha; or kunda because it cuts the earth; by the word ku lords of the earth are indicated.
