Passage 1

On the Gītā: 4.38

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

“Na hi jñānena sadṛśaṃ”: there is nothing else equal to Jñāna. That which carries one across the ocean of saṃsāra and grants the ‘supreme attainment’ is what is called “Jñāna”. This Jñāna, too, is of two kinds. The first is called “Viṣaya Jñāna”, and the second “Abheda Jñāna”. That is, the first is worldly; the second is the Vijñāna of Brahman and Ātma expressed in “Ahaṃ brahmāsmi”, and this is what is called Abheda Jñāna. It is beginningless. It removes the fear of saṃsāra, makes man fearless in his very svarūpa, and leads him into the ‘attainment of Brahman’. It stands as the witness to the Buddhi, and so its name is “Samyak Jñāna”.
