“Brother-in-law! Every man has, or may have, the wish to escape these two sorrows, old age and death. But what use is that alone? Practice that fits the wish must be there, above all, must it not? Truly, the one who acts with such intense anguish, casting all his responsibilities upon God: his sorrow I bring to an end with the rays of My grace. But those who take refuge in worldly objects, which are the very forms of sorrow: their sorrow will never end, and no one else can end it. For those who do not take refuge in the ‘Lord of Māyā’ but take refuge in the ‘objects of Māyā’, how will sorrow end? How will Ānanda be attained? If these two do not happen, where is the path to Mukti?” So Kṛṣṇa said.
