Passage 9

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

Today there is very little practical knowledge. Arguments and counter-arguments go on, based on bookish knowledge alone. One says yes, another says no. Life comes to a stop at just this. We must plunge into everything. We must face everything.

Life is a challenge meet it Life is a game play it Life is Love enjoy it Life is dream realise it

We must go on facing everything. When we go on facing it, a kind of contentment comes to us. That is our conscience satisfaction. Our conscience must be satisfied. But the educated today are all satisfying the conscious. This conscious must come from consciousness. This consciousness is everywhere. That is the true principle of God, the principle of power, Caitanya. Nobody can change it. No scientist can understand it. How can a scientist who cannot understand even himself understand this? Even a man like Churchill, known as a man with a heart of stone, said this: All the scientists today are trying to know everything. But they make no effort to know themselves. They are trying to bring everything under their control. But they make no effort to control their own senses. Prahlāda, who was a student, said this very thing to his father Hiraṇyakaśipu:

Father, you conquered all the worlds in an instant, yet the host of the senses and the mind you cannot conquer.

What is the use? You went on conquering all the worlds. You went on bringing all the five elements into your grasp. But you cannot master my mind and my senses. What is this power of yours? So in the students of today, control of the senses is most necessary. It is just because students today all fall under the sway of the senses that violence and riots are spreading more and more in the world. So we must be master, not slaves. We must be master. When does one become master? Only when we control our senses do we become master.
