Passage 16

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

We must gain unity of this kind. We make so many sweets: gulab jamun, palkova, mithai, barfi. But in all of them the sugar is one! So the God who is in all is one! God is one, goal is one. You may give whatever names you like.

All the people of Bhārata are one family

Embodiments of Prema! Do not increase the differences of religion! Do not increase prejudice! Do not revile other faiths! We must not revile any religion.

All the religions together have taught only good; know this, and live by it with understanding; when minds are good, which religion is bad? Listen, heroic son of Bhārata!

In our Bhārata all religions are equal! Let each look to their own moral codes. Let each practise their own doctrines. But we must not hate one another. We must see all as one. A small example. Govind Singh, the Guru of the Sikhs, wrote a verse. It goes “Sab ko sanmati de bhagavān”. “Īśvar Allāh tere nām, sab ko sanmati de bhagavān”. This is the verse Guru Govind Singh wrote. What a great and broad feeling! The foundation stone of the sacred, golden Golden Temple had to be laid. Then Guru Govind Singh brought a man called Miyā Mīr, a guru of the Muslims, and had him lay the foundation stone. What unity there was here! The one family that lived with such unity has today broken to pieces. All the people of Bhārata are one family. We must develop that feeling. Only then will Bhārata again enjoy Ānanda.
