In plain words
There are many powers in the body. These are called the six powers. Lordship, Dharma, fame, prosperity, Jñāna and Vairāgya are the six treasures. They are full of power. God is the embodiment of the six kinds of lordship. The six kinds of lordship are in every person. How can you say it is not God? You too are God. As long as you are lost in the body, you forget God. When divinity comes, you forget the body. Until you forget the body, you cannot be lost in God. As long as you nurse the attachment that you are the body, attachment to God does not come. Some people came to Ramakrishna Paramahaṃsa. "Swami! Have you seen God?" they asked. "Yes, I have seen Him. I see Him just as you see me and I see you," he said. "But I do not see Him?" "My boy! You weep for money. You weep for your children. You weep for your wife. You weep for your relatives. Do you weep for God? Weep for God. God will surely be seen. You weep for the world."
When born, they wept; when dying, they wept; in between, over the things of the senses, they weep for this and that; when the decline of Dharma came about, did they weep to set it right? Did they ever weep for the Embodiment of Satya? What did they weep for? They wept for the sake of weeping.
We weep. What do we weep for? Do we weep for Dharma? Do we weep for God? How will God be seen? Weep for God, and He will surely be seen. Weeping with glycerine put in your eyes is of no use. That anguish must come from the heart. He will surely be seen by you. Many people went to the Buddha. They questioned the Buddha. "What is God? You have done so much sādhana. Have you recognised Satya? What is God like?" "Foolish fellow! Do not waste time with these arguments. God alone is Satya. God is the embodiment of Satya. Dharma itself is the form of God. Ahiṃsā itself is the form of God. Make your time worthwhile with Ahiṃsā, with Dharma, with Satya: that is divinity." If we say "God, God" without doing what we ought to do, how will we gain Him? Though He is everywhere, we do not understand. However powerful a bulb you bring and set before a man who has no eyes, he does not know it. How can one who has no such faith, no deep Bhakti, understand? When my eyes are open, I take this handkerchief straight in my hand. If I close my eyes, I search here, there and everywhere. What is the reason? Only because there is no sight. In the same way, only because we lack the divine vision do we search here, there and everywhere. Keep the divine vision. Today, only because they are ignorant, without the divine vision, people cannot understand divinity. When a person recognises his own true nature, divinity is understood well. Every atom is the form of God. Every thing is the form of God. If you know this truth, Ahiṃsā begins right there. This itself appears as the very form of Satya. Constantly the Name of God and the form of God: these two alone are the true eyes. One eye is the form of God. The other eye is the thought of God. Only through the oneness of these two does Ānanda arise. We must not take this vision as a worldly vision. See with the divine vision. Change your vision. Changing creation is not possible. People are trying to change this creation. That is why all these uncalled-for reactions come. Many accidents happen. We earn disgrace. No, no. We must see nature with the divine vision. Whatever we see, we must see it with the divine vision. We must practise this. This very thing, in the Bhagavad Gītā:
Knowledge is better than practice; meditation excels knowledge; giving up the fruit of action excels meditation; from giving up, Śānti follows at once.
If you tell a newborn child to run at once, it cannot run. It must crawl a little. Then it must sit up. Then it must stand up and fall. It must walk holding on to the wall. Then, step by step, it must try to run. These practices must follow the course of nature. Practise that God is everywhere. Every single thing is practice for us. Speaking, walking, writing: all of it is practice. First of all, begin the practice. What must we know? All this is atomic energy. The earth has a power of attraction. That power of attraction itself is divinity. It is what shows divinity in full. It makes all powers one. Newton told of this very thing well. Even before he discovered it, the earth had its power of attraction. But he observed. He researched. He recognised it. In the same way you too can observe and discover it. We do not observe. We do not research. We argue. Time is wasted. Life itself goes to waste. Whatever I do, God is everywhere; I cannot hide from God.
