In plain words
How many have attained this Ānanda? The years are rolling by. The body is growing. In the end, with duty not recognised, the body itself falls down. But we do not get the fruit. For what reason? The root cause is that our faith is not firm. Only when this faith is steady will its fruit too be steady. I have said that a Ladder has two main points. What rests on the ground below is Prema. What rests on the terrace above is faith. Only when these two, Prema and faith, come together can we use the ladder and climb up. Today, if there is Prema, there is no faith. If there is faith, there is no Prema. Faith alone is not enough; there must be Prema. The bond between these two is like positive and negative.
Into an empty head you can fill anything; can a head that is full of this and that become empty? Unless the head becomes empty, can good deeds be filled into it on this earth?
We must remove the negative feelings in us.
Some day or other we cannot escape leaving this world. This body is not lasting. In all the karma we do, the fruit is not lasting. All are only passing clouds. Why do we take so much trouble for the sake of such clouds? We are not striving for Divinity, which is eternally true. They study with care the studies pursued for a living. But they show no care for the studies pursued for liberation. For what purpose are these studies? All studies may bring a worldly position and honour. But what we must hold on to in worldly life is two, just two. Satya and fame.
Unsteady is life in the world; unsteady are youth and wealth. Unsteady are wife, sons and the rest; Satya and fame, these two, are steady.
We must win fame. Through what does fame come? Fame comes only through the path of Satya. By no other path does fame come. Where does this fame come from? Satya. That is, truth is God. Satya itself is the form of God. Satya itself is everywhere. Satya itself is our support; Satya itself is our life-breath.
