In plain words

He who makes Prema ripen in his heart: he is the Christian, he is the Sikh, he is the Hindu, he is the Muslim, he is the human being, he is the guru.

God is all-pervading, the inner Ātma of all beings. In the same way, the five elements, which are the powers of God, are also all-pervading and all-powerful. The whole world is filled with the five elements and is run by the five elements alone. If even one of the five elements were lacking, the world could not stand. The five elements are to man like the five prāṇas. To understand their nature and act by it is man's duty. Only he who recognises their nature and acts by it is blessed and virtuous. He alone can attain the aims of human life.

The five elements are the root cause of man's joys and sorrows, of his good and bad. Man is born, lives for some time, and then gives up his body. The root cause of all this is the five elements. So it is essential to recognise their secret. For this, the Buddha tried to bring his five senses under control. First of all he restrained his sight. Among the five senses, the eye is very powerful. There are forty lakh rays of light in it. But through evil sight, many lakhs of them are wasting away. That is how man's sight comes to be defective. When the sight becomes defective, having a cataract operation, taking medicines... in this way he tries to protect his sight.
