Passage 1

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

When you take birth from your mother's womb, no necklaces at all are to be seen; not a single string of fine pearls, not even one; no chain of pure gold upon the neck; no necklaces of gems are there to shine; no emeralds or rubies are set in; no diamond necklaces are there to gleam; no hessonite stones come with you. There is, there is one garland on your neck: whatever you have done, all of it, counted and counted again, be it good or be it bad, with nothing cut away, Brahmā gives you and sends you forth with a heavy garland, the necklace strung with all your karmas!

Embodiments of Prema! In this world every human being has four gurus. “Mātṛdēvō bhava, pitṛdēvō bhava, ācāryadēvō bhava, atithidēvō bhava,” the Veda teaches. So the mother herself is the first guru. A mother's teachings hold many inner meanings. He alone is a true son who conducts himself without ever overstepping his mother's words. To outward sight a mother appears to us as no more than an ordinary person. But to those who do not follow the spiritual path, all this may look laughable.
