In plain words
Worship Govinda, worship Govinda, worship Govinda, O foolish mind! (Worship …) When the appointed time draws near, ‘ḍukṛñ karaṇe’ will not save you, no, never. (Worship …)
None of these will hold you up at the end. At the last, God alone is the support. God alone is the true helper (sahāyakuḍu); today we have cast Him aside. We have put our faith in the world. We are losing happiness in every way. No, no. We must put our faith in God. He alone is our protector in everything. This whole world is indeed a truth that can be seen. But “It is the unseen that makes you taste the fruit of your karmas; that is the secret, O jīva.” All this is merely of Prakṛti. All this belongs only to pravṛtti. There is one support for this. That itself is nivṛtti. For this tree that is seen, the support is precisely the roots that are not seen. For a building that is seen, the support is the very foundation that is not seen. But today we look at the building and are delighted. The foundations are not secure at all. At any moment, at any minute, it will come crashing down. You look at this building called the body and are delighted. Body is the temple of God. This
A hovel of filth, a servant's basket wasting with disease, a tuber born to move about, a thornbush that cannot swim the sea of worldly life, a quiver of arrows: rise and look! If we think it over rightly, this body as lasting, do not trust it, O mind! Take refuge at the feet of Hari.
How long does this body last? Body is the water bubble, mind is the mad monkey. Don't follow the body, don't follow the mind, follow the conscience. That itself is the principle of the Ātma. Instead of following it, we go after the body and the mind. Up to a point this is indeed a support. As long as we lead a worldly life, the body and the mind have to be there. So in those days Emperor Bali, even though he was rich in good deeds of every kind, fell into suffering of every kind because he held on to just one thing, pride.
