Though he has gathered the knowledge of every śāstra and Purāṇa, though he is a learned man who knows Vedānta, though, his delight brimming over, in lovely mansions he takes his pleasure, a moon among kings, though on the field of battle, his foes put to rout, he shines as the one hero of the world, though he pines at the mercy of the goddess of poverty, a servant who is a very lord of misfortune: if he has no Bhakti, he is of no use at all. Rather than a lord of the world who has no Bhakti, the servant who is full of Bhakti is worthy of reverence. What more than this shall I make known, O members of this assembly, counted among the good and the virtuous!
