In plain words
The sun now seems gentle; the days have now grown short; the cold wind's bite grows keener; in the fields, by the dim moonlight of night, the farmers threshing the heaps lift up their voices and begin to sing their songs; the yellow flowers have strung garlands of pearls upon the hemp fields; the ripe chillies take on the gleam of kuṅkuma, the marigolds open their faces a little, the wealth of grain is set within our homes, and in the lovely month of Puṣya the festival of Saṅkrānti has come in all its splendour.
