In plain words

The whole universe is filled with Hari; Hari is the universe itself: what room is there for doubt? There is no substance not filled with Hari, not one atom....

Worship with faith, and a stone becomes Nārāyaṇa; without faith, mind you, it is only a lump of rock. Among men there is none who trusted and was ruined: this is the plain truth I am telling you.

Dear students!

‘Durlabham mānuṣo dehaḥ’: of all the living beings in the world, the human body is the hardest to attain. Though this body has such excellence and such distinction, ‘jñānena śūnya paśubhissamāna’: the man without that wisdom which sets him apart from all the animals and raises him above them is the equal of a beast. Though we have been given so exalted and sacred a human birth, man does not use it on the right path; he spends this body on the impure path, on greed, on evil thoughts and wicked designs. Man, who ought to walk the path of nivṛtti, who ought to enjoy Ānanda on the path of nivṛtti, falls under the sway of pravṛtti, becomes a slave to the mind and the senses, and wastes his life. He tries in many ways to satisfy his craving for enjoyment, but he makes not the least effort to develop in himself a love for yoga or a love for sacrifice.
