Passage 17

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

First of all, we must settle our faith in this. Without that faith, we waste life itself!

Lacking the two eyes of faith, men on this earth have become blind; if they do not see Him, is God not there? He may not be there for such a one, but is He not there for us?

Man today puts his faith in everything. But in God he has no faith. That is his misfortune. God is in all. One who does not trust God is the very one who does not trust himself! So we must develop self confidence. That is the foundation, for our Bhārata. For any country, faith is the foundation. On it we must build the walls of Ānanda. On these very walls of Ānanda we must lay the roof of sacrifice. Under that roof of sacrifice you must live. So:

Self confidence - foundation Self satisfaction - wall Self sacrifice - roof Self realisation - life

We must nourish faith in our lives. Today we waste time in needless talk. We defile time by speaking ill of others. Why should we not remember the Name of God? Only then will the Ānanda that befits humanness be ours. The heart becomes pure. We will be able to attain a divine life.
