Passage 7

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

My body means body is separate from me. Only when we recognise this truth does true spirituality rise up in us to some extent and grow.

Science today has grown, but ignorance too has grown greatly to match it. These two keep shifting the balance. One cannot simply call it balance. Man's whole life has developed on knowledge. But what are we doing with this knowledge? If we turn knowledge into skill, our balance stays good. If we kill knowledge, the balance is spoilt. Students today are all killing their knowledge. How are they doing it? Killing.

See no evil see what is good. Hear no evil hear what is good. Talk no evil talk what is good. Think no evil think what is good. Do no evil do what is good.

This is skilling

always bad look, bad thoughts, bad eyes, bad work: all this is killing. Our sight is most sacred. We must not look at evil. Our tongue.

O tongue that knows taste and loves the sweet, I tell you what is true, good and highest: repeat … the sweet syllables …

Above all, we must not let in slander of others. We must not make anyone a laughing-stock. We must not belittle others. We must never speak of the faults of others. So if you can, do good; if not, just sit still. Just sitting still is itself doing good. Do no harm to others: that itself is great good.

The life of students is like the foundation of the mansion of life. This brahmacarya is the foundation. Gṛhastha is the walls built on it. Vānaprastha is the roof. Our mansion itself is life.

Self confidence - foundation Self satisfaction - wall Self sacrifice - roof. Self realisation - life
