Passage 13

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

What dwells in every man is the very form of God. That is why: Śaile śaile viharita daivaṃ. Hills upon hills, mounds upon mounds: wherever you look, He roams all over. 'Grāme grāme tyāge daivaṃ.' In village after village He dwells as the very form of sacrifice. Nagare nagare viditaṃ. In the city too God leads a life of well-being. Wherever you look, God is there.

God is the form of Time

Whether in the forests or in the sky, whether in the town or in the village, whether on the hill or fallen in midstream, for one who has no refuge, God alone is the refuge.

There is no place at all without God. He is everything, as the form of Satya. That itself is sound, the form of Brahman. Whatever kind of action you do, He gives the fitting return for it. You got angry. You struck the table hard. You think, "I struck the table hard." No, no: the table too struck you just as hard. For everything there is resound, reaction, reflection. If not today, it will show tomorrow. Just because it does not show then and there, you may think, "I have no reaction at all." The hand was cut. The moment it was cut, blood came. Reaction at once. We ate food. It is not digested the moment we eat it. It takes two hours' time. You slipped and fell, and a leg broke. The bone broke at once, but it takes some months to heal. In the same way, whatever deeds you have done, they take some months, some years, even some yugas. You may think, "For the fraud I did just now, for the cheating I did just now, for the injustice and the wrongdoing I did just now, I have got no result at all." A great mistake. This reaction can never be escaped.
