In plain words
Among Creatures, a Human Birth Is Hard to Gain
O man! For having taken on this humanness, you must become ever so blessed. A human birth is very hard to gain. Why are you wasting such a rare human birth, a noble human birth, an ideal human birth, a sacred human birth, a precious human birth? For having been born, you must show an ideal. You must search for an ideal. You must follow the ideal. Having followed it, you must pass it on to everyone. Apart from that, go into the affairs of the world in many ways and do all your work: there is nothing wrong in it. But in the citta, though, that vṛtti must never be let go.
Nartakī and Kīrtana
All this, on the stage of the world's drama: the sūtradhāri, the nāṭyadhāri. There is dance in it, too. Every man is dancing. On this stage of the universe's drama, this dancer is dancing. She turns her hands. She turns her eyes. She performs abhinaya. She keeps the tāḷa. Though she does all this, she carries herself in such a way that her dance is never broken. However many times she turns her hands, however much abhinaya she performs, the tāḷa, though, goes on without a slip. In the same way every man may carry on his own occupations. He may do his own work. He may carry on his own job. But in everything he must take care not to forget the state called divinity. In these present times we must bring this nartakī under our control. How will this nartakī come under our control? Nartakī - kīrtana. If we want to bring the nartakī under our control, we must do kīrtana.
The name of Hari, the name of Hari, the name of Hari alone; in Kali there is no, there is no, there is no other way.
We must do kīrtana. For what? You yourself are God: sing your own praise. Do not sing the praise of anyone.
