In plain words

One day the Gopikās came to Yaśodā and poured out their grievance: “Mother! At midnight Kṛṣṇa climbed up onto our terraces, lifted the braids of the sleeping women, tied them together and ran off.” Then Kṛṣṇa: ‘Mother! I was lying at your side, never stirring or moving. At midnight, when could I have gone out and come back, Mother? Tell Me yourself!’ He said. Yaśodā too: ‘It is true. Kṛṣṇa was right here with me, and yet all these women are telling lies that He came to them,’ she concluded.

Later another group came to Yaśodā: “Mother! As all the cowherd women went off together to sell buttermilk, He knocked holes in their buttermilk pots, demanding a toll on them,” they complained. Yaśodā: ‘Kṛṣṇa! Give up such naughty pranks. Or else I will tie You to the mortar,’ she scolded. Then Kṛṣṇa: “Mother! I have not tied anyone's braids, and I have not broken pots in anyone's house. All that is their delusion. Their own delusions alone torment them,” He said. In the language of the spirit, the pot means the body. To break the pot means to break the delusion that one is the body.

To attribute qualities to Him who is beyond qualities is Ajñāna

After that the Gopikās came: ‘Kṛṣṇa! You are the embodiment of Brahmānanda, beyond the pairs of opposites, free of the three guṇas, beyond all feeling. To attribute qualities to You is our fault, ours alone! All the complaints we made to Your mother were born of Ajñāna. Please forgive us and protect us, Lord!’ they prayed. Kṛṣṇa forgave them and drew them all into His presence. ‘You are not one thing and I another. I and you are one and the same,’ He taught them. When we believe in such oneness, we shall be the better for it beyond measure. We must experience oneness in all three aspects: the physical, the mental and the spiritual.

Three-leaved, shaped like the three guṇas, three-eyed, bearing three weapons, destroying the sins of three births: one bilva leaf, offered to Śiva.

We were born only to be rid of sin, not to make our sins grow.
