Passage 3

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

Prema must come from the heart. Strengthen that Prema. No want of any kind comes to a man who has Prema. Only when you have earned such Prema does the title of embodiments of Prema become true of you.

Do not forget the God who dwells right within you

God is everywhere. Who is God? You yourself are God. We must attain this experience. God is right there, wherever you look. Do not forget the God who dwells right within you. Many people think that God exists somewhere apart.

“That He is here and not there is a doubt you need not have; the Lord of the discus is in all; wherever you search and look, He is right there...”

So said Prahlāda. This is the very thing the culture of Bhārata teaches! “God, God, God...” you keep saying. In fact you yourself are God. It is not that you are one thing and God another. Man is forgetting the God who dwells in him.

Embodiments of Prema! Whatever you may hope for, or not hope for, Prema at least you must not give up. There is no other wealth that surpasses Prema. Prema alone is the great treasure. One who forgets Prema is no man at all. We love mother, father, sisters and brothers. But these are loves that belong to the drama of the physical. We must try to recognise true Prema. We do not need to search for it. It is always to be seen right in our home, right at our heels, right at our side. (Showing a flower) What is this? It is a flower. This flower is no ordinary one. It is joined with the heart of God. It has so many petals. These petals themselves are God's letters. The basis of them all is one alone. That is the Ātma, the root foundation. They have long called the Ātma itself Prema. There is no way to call it anything else. To this Ātma itself people attach many kinds of love. Mother, father, sister, brother... all of them are petals of the flower! All of them together make up the family.
