In plain words

Was it not because noble Kausalyā's womb was the precious pearl-oyster that Rāma became God and shone in glory? Was it not because the great and virtuous Sītā raised them with joy that the twins Kuśa and Lava became great? Was it not because Jijiyā, jewel among women, raised him with joy that the hero Śivājī won his name? Was it not because Putalībāī raised him with delight that Gāndhī became a Mahātmā and won greatness? Was it not because the virtuous Īśvarāmbā held Him up and raised Him that Satyanārāyaṇa grew up for the peace of the world? In this way the whole host of living beings has blossomed in fragrance. Than the mother who protects us day after day, is there anything on earth more to be cherished? The first letter of Amma is the very first of all letters.
