Passage 8

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

The oneness of mind, word and deed, these three, is the way to Śānti

With an atom bomb held in their hand, they keep shouting, “Śānti, Śānti!”; even though they can reach the moon, they cannot gain Śānti and happiness.

With an atom bomb held in the hand, where is Śānti to come from? Only when we cast away this atom bomb will we find Śānti. Today, within the country, many quarrels and upheavals are flaring up. This is not good for the country at all. Suppose there are three people in a house! Only when these three live together in harmony can we enjoy Śānti and Ānanda in the house. When they grow hostile to one another and spoil their harmony, how can Śānti thrive in that house? How are we to find Śānti today? In the house called the body live three people: mind, word and deed. Only when these three are united do we find Śānti. Speech does not listen to what is in the mind. Deed does not act in keeping with what speech says. How then can we find Śānti? The oneness of these three is the way to true Śānti.

To become a vyakti, we must make manifest through sādhana the divine power within us

Embodiments of the divine Ātma! First of all, we must develop divinity within humanness itself. We must make manifest the divinity within humanness. Only then do we become true vyaktis. Vyakti, vyakti, vyakti. What does it mean? Is a vyakti merely one with a head, legs and hands? No. This word vyakti has an endless, profound meaning. Whoever makes manifest the divine power that lies unmanifest and hidden, he alone is a vyakti. None of the rest are vyaktis. They are avyaktis.
