In plain words

By meritorious deeds, by sacrifice on this earth, fostering feelings of Prema, subduing the demonic and holding fast to devotion to God, carry on your daily life, O man!

Embodiments of Prema!

Human birth is very hard to attain. In this human birth, so hard to attain, to gain sacred Śānti is harder still. Yet from the day he is born until the day he dies, man goes through a great many changes. But inquire what changes he is going through, and man himself does not know what changes they are. Changes he does not know, combinations he does not know, additions he does not know, go on in the world.

In childhood he mixes with many companions and is one with them in play and song; when youth blossoms, like the god of love with his flowery bow, he roams about, lost in women; in middle age, sunk in worldly affairs, he clings to the earning of money; when old age comes, he does not think of Murahari, but laments, "This is lacking, that is lacking." Unable to give up his many evil habits, without the eagerness to seek the path of Bhakti, he wanders sunk in the mire of karma: man mixes his birth into the mud.

Yet man is highly intelligent.
