In plain words
That is why whatever seeds we sow, that very plant comes up; whatever plant it grows into, that very tree; and only the fruit that fits that tree comes to us. Man nurtures resolves of many kinds, and then in many ways falls into despair that he has not received the fruit that fits his resolve.
‘I will do this, I will do that, I will do so much more’: do not wear yourself out weaving such fancies. The seeds you sowed to come to be here: those very fruits come to you. When the seed is one, fruits that are different: how can that ever come about? However much cleverness and strength one may have, there is no great one able to go beyond karma. All that you have done, each one counted, good or bad, with not one cut off, Brahmā gives you and sends you forth with a heavy garland: the necklace strung with all your karmas.
When you are born from your mother's womb, no necklaces whatever are to be seen; no strings of fine pearls, not even for a sample; no chain of pure gold about your neck; no necklaces of gems shining bright; no garlands set with emeralds; but there is, there is one garland about your neck: the necklace strung with all your karmas.
