Passage 2

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

Man cannot recognise for what purpose God created him. Many secrets and ideals are contained in God's creation. Man is forgetting those ideals. He cannot understand how great humanness is.

The heart itself is the dwelling of God

Man's power is far greater than all the powers in the world. Who gives gold, diamonds and land their value? None other than man! But the value of his own humanness, which is supremely great, man cannot recognise. How can one who cannot recognise even the humanness within himself recognise divinity? First of all he must try to recognise the humanness within himself. Only after he has recognised his own humanness can he attain divinity with ease. God is not in some Kailāsa, some Vaikuṇṭha or some temple. Heaven, Kailāsa and the rest are God's branch offices! God's dwelling is the human heart itself! So you need not search for God here, there and everywhere.

God is not in some separate land; God is in one's own body. Sin is not in some foreign land apart; it clings to the deeds one does!

Not to recognise the divinity that is in oneself is nothing but ignorance. What is the root cause of this ignorance? Man keeps travelling only on the path of pravṛtti, and does not look towards nivṛtti. What man sees, what he hears, what he thinks: all of it has to do with pravṛtti! Because he spends his life on the path of pravṛtti, only feelings of pravṛtti arise in him. He makes no effort to recognise the principle of nivṛtti.
