In plain words
Wherever you look, people say to one another, "Sāī Rām, Sāī Rām." How holy this heart becomes! Sāī is not the name of one person. Sāī is the very principle of the Paramātma that reposes upon the heart.
Today we are wholly forgetting our own culture and its sacred feelings.
Good principles all men have forgotten; by ill fate, Dharma has sunk low in society; nowhere is there even a shade left for morality to stand in; what greater misfortune could there be than this?
Do we give any room at all to morality? No, no. Morality itself is our nation.
The honour of a nation stands upon morality; a nation without morality goes to ruin; a nation that has morality is a true nation; this is the plain truth I am telling you.
All the reform of society has gone into the Gaṅgā; contentment has vanished from mankind; character and morality have withered in the world; this is the progress in the education of today.
Is this what we should be doing? What is our progress? We defy the very mother and father who gave us birth. We are falling into such a sorry state that we cannot honour them.
Embodiments of Prema! When today you forget the mother and father in whose womb you lay, who were kind to you, who cherished you in every way and helped you grow, how can you love the divine, which gives you no such help, which is beyond you and past all reach? When you cannot love what is within your reach, how can you love the divine, which is unmanifest and unseen? So first of all love your mother and father; it was they who raised you, brought you up and brought you to this state.
