Passage 5

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

Prema's form is Brahman, all of Prema; to join Prema with Prema becomes the discipline; so he who has Prema in full becomes worthy of attaining the One without a second.

But because of attachment to the body, your Prema is taking divided and different forms. Love bound to the body is not Prema.

“Prem Īśvar hai, Īśvar prem hai”

“Swami keeps saying Prema, Prema…. What is the form of this Prema?” many people wonder. “Prem Īśvar hai, Īśvar prem hai.” Prema is the Ātma. Prema is Brahman. Prema is existence itself. Everything is filled with Prema. What form could we fix for such Prema? What is in you and what is in Me is the one Ātma, the one heart. If you recognise this oneness well, there will be no such thing as hatred. It is attachment to the body that gives rise to bad qualities such as anger, distress, envy, jealousy and pomp. Because people take oneness for diversity, quarrels and turmoil are breaking out. Bodies may be different. Just because bodies are different, the principle of the Ātma cannot be different. “Ekātmā sarva bhūtāntarātma,” “Advaitaṃ Brahma”: you must firmly believe in this oneness. In this world there is no object without divinity. (Showing the handkerchief) There is divinity in this cloth too; there is divinity in this flower too. If there were no divinity in them, no one would desire them. So all is divinity! “Īśāvāsyam idaṃ jagat”: God Himself fills the whole world. “Sarvaṃ khalvidaṃ Brahma”: the principle of Brahman pervades everywhere. You must recognise this truth.

Faith Is the Root of Prema

Embodiments of Prema! Many times I address you as “Embodiments of Prema!” That is because Prema is your true form. It is “nirguṇaṃ, nirañjanaṃ, sanātanaṃ, niketanaṃ, nitya śuddha, buddha, mukta, nirmalasvarūpiṇiṃ.”
